Compactor Control System & Application

When a leasing waste compactor company looked to develop a new range of compactors, More Control was chosen to work with them to develop the control system of their compactor.

ET2 Ltd, who developed a new screw compactor, required a total control solution including system design, software development, panel build and after sales support of the compactor.

The compactor control system, involved the control and protection of a large high torque motor which turned the screw, compacting the waste. This motor in turn required many sequences of operation to ensure the correct compaction of many waste types and the interface to a range of auxiliary equipment as the product developed.

The control system had to also be versatile to include the addition of an automatic bin top, automatic skip loaders and other equipment to be added throughout its lifecycle.

In recent years, the compactor had been used in food waste recycling and now more recently was used in direct feeds to combine sources from heat and power plants, which again brought new challenges to the compactor control system.
