Erwin Sick's selection of mid range laser distance sensors offer simple setup, high immunity to ambient light and advanced features for improved process quality. Analogue and switching outputs ensure they are easy to integrate into any automation process.

Sick Short Range Distance Sensors

Sick OD Value SensorSick short range distance sensors are laser sensors which provide accurate distance measurements for applications which require a high degree of precision. Sick sensors ensure improved product quality with highly accurate measurement right down to sub micron resolution. (Measurement range of up to 1,000mm). Due to their concentrated accuracy, these Sensors are especially suited for controlling, sorting and inspection tasks used in quality control processes. Common applications include measuring dimensions, position, shape and machining tolerance. Sick short range distance sensors can greatly improve the quality of end products while reducing material and downtime costs.

OD Value Sensors (Simple Accurate Measurement)

  • Several measurement ranges from 26 mm - 34 mm to 100 mm - 400 mm
  • CMOS receiving element for measurement independent of surface
  • Easy, LED-based user and teach-in concept
  • Wide range of models and a wide range of standard interfaces
  • Laser technology for precise measurement of very small objects

  • Variety of interfaces: SSI, RS-422, PROFIBUS, HIPERFACE, CANopen, DeviceNet

Sick Ultrasonic Sensors

Sick UM30-2 Sensor Sick Ultrasonic Sensors use sound to accurately detect objects and measure distances. These Sick Sensors provide outstanding background suppression to reliably detect objects, regardless of the objects appearance. The output used switching, analogue or both is determined based on end user application requirements.

UM30-2

  • Integrated time-of-flight technology detects objects such as glass, liquids and transparent foils, independent of color
  • Range up to 8,000 mm
  • Display enables fast and flexible sensor adjustment
  • Immune to dust, dirt and fog
  • Available with combined analog and digital outputs
  • Synchronization and multiplexing
  • Adjustable sensitivity
  • Three operation modes: Distance to Object (DtO), Window (Wnd) or Object between sensor and background (OBSB)

Sick Double Sheet Detector

Sick UM18 Sensor Sick's ultrasonic double sheet detector sensors are commonly used to identify the presence / absence of a single sheet, no sheet or double sheeting in printing applications. Sick Double Sheet Detector with ultrasonic sensors offer various application advantages, including colour independent detection and plug and play operation.

UM18

  • Double sheet detection of foils, metal sheets and corrugated cardboard with F, N and G flute sizes

  • Two switching outputs for double and miss-fed sheets

Sick Optical Data Transmission

Sick ISD300 Sensor Optical data transmission - wireless communication made easy

The Sick ISD infrared data transmission system enables wireless communication. Typical uses for this Sick system are on stacker cranes in storage and conveyer systems for wireless communication from vehicle to control units. The Sick system consists of an optically aligned pair of sender and receiver which can communicate bidirectional over long distances. This Sick system is a wear free, cost effective and highly reliable alternative to trailing cables.

ISD300

Optical data transmission for long transmission ranges

  • Transmission range up to 300 m
  • Baud rate up to 2 Mbit/s
  • Bargraph display for fine alignment
  • Optical aid for rough alignment
  • Variety of interfaces: PROFIBUS, Ethernet, DeviceNet, Modbus

Sick Position Finders

Sick DMP3 Sensor The Sick DMP position finders are opto electronic sensors which are used for precise, relative non contact positioning. Sick DMP sensors compensate for temperature and load variation to provide reliable, fast and precise positioning in automated storage and retrieval applications. The relative positioning in the x and y axis is done at ranges from 200mm up to 2000mm depending on the sensor type used.
